Gear S Available November 7th!

Even though the contest is over, most of us upgraded our applications to support the Gear S screen resolution. Hence it seems appropriate to post that the release date is now known. May all of us find success in sales on the new platform. :)

Would be nice if Samsung would provide us a free Gear S device, as round 1 winners...

that's max 200 devices, can't be a problem for Samsung can it?
And it would definitely boost the number of apps available for Gear S, at least the best 200 apps will then be available for it.

Serena, if you're reading with us, maybe you can suggest this to Samsung?

    That would be great.

I also participated in BlackBerry 10 hackatons in the early days of BB10.
They gave $100 for each approved app (upto max 20 apps) and provided a free development device, which afterwards could be traded for free with a normal BlackBerry 10 Developer edition (=red) (worth $500 at that time.
If Samsung wants happy developers (which they can't do without!) they can take that as an example....

I agree with the suggestion. There are some unique things that could be done with the Gear S. The same things, though, would be hard to perfect without hardware. For example, I wouldn't just hope that compass sensors align correctly or that GPS is used properly.

I wonder how the Gear S will do in the marketplace.
    The article mentions:
"Unfortunately its status as a standalone smart watch doesn’t change the fact that you’ll need a Galaxy smartphone to use it"
At the same time they are buying an additional contract for it and paying $200, it is not quite a standalone phone.

I think it is a great innovative idea. I just don't know how users will react yet int the marketplace.
I suppose a similar market will buy this as would get a 4G enabled tablet along with their smartphone.
