Waste of Time?
We participated in this contest hoping to get a new revenue stream with Samsung smart watch devices, and if we could win a prize, even better. We released apps, priced them for $1, sold hundreds of copies of the various titles, and have yet to receive a single penny from Samsung since we released our software in JUNE! They say they are supposed to pay when accumulated sales are over $150, and we've done that, and they even send a report telling us what payment we should receive, but we've never received them. We've written them several times, and have never gotten a response. We won round one of this contest, but never received any prize money either, two months after the contest ended. From where I sit right now, all the development and hoop jumping was just a big waste of time. I don't think that's the impression with the developer community that Samsung was hoping for, but it is what has been achieved. Has anyone else received ANY money from Samsung for the paid apps that sold copies? Has anyone received ANY prize money?

I got money from sold copies. But not the prize.

You've sold hundreds of copies? That's great. I've been asking around on this forum if any one is having success selling their apps and most don't seem to want to say.
I received one payment from sold copies on September 25th via Paypal. I believe it was from meeting the threshold in August.
Prize money, no.
Since they said "sometime in October", I'll wait till next Friday before I start worrying.

We sold several hundred copies of Hypnotron first couple of months after release, as there wasn't much competition. Another couple of hundred copies across all other titles have sold since. We've not received a dime. It's so aggravating, I'm considering just pulling the product from the market. What's the point of selling software you don't get paid for? We are not new developers. We've developed a Top 40 Paid Casual Game on Google Play, and it's in the Top 80 on iOS paid role playing. We've been in the Top 20 charts on and off since 2011. We're used to selling hundreds of paid copies a day, and when it comes to free stuff, we're used to thousands of downloads a day and hundreds of in-app transactions. I was surprised and deeply disappointed with the sales on this platform.

I haven't gotten paid yet either. Encouraging to hear at least some others got paid.

From April up to now, I have received more than 10k from Samsung. There is still pending money, but I always get paid.

Thanks for sharing. It's interesting to know that at least 2 of your are able to make 10K or more from your apps.

Try using Paypal as the payment method. I always get paid on 25th.
@vgraupera It's probably too late to make money on the store now. The way Samsung organize the store make it nearly impossible to discover quality stuffs. 80% of the money I made were from the first 3 months. I still make money these days, but not much. Switching to Apple watch if Sammy continues to work this way. I doubt the Gear S will be successful.

Samsung need to replace Gear 2 and neo with something better. With better design, better performance. Battery is still awesome compare to other competitor. My gear neo look really cheap now.

Samsung always make their products look cheap. Even premium devices look cheap. Waiting for the Gear 4.... They have 6 watches already, but nothing sells.

I have Paypal set for payment method for App sales . . . nothing has come though, ever. We've sold, by Samsung records, nearly $500 worth of apps since June. It's the insult of non-received revenue to the injury of time wasted developing for a platform with no market. We figured the prize money would at least offset a portion of the development time, but that's been a bust too. Will they pay the prize money in the next three days? In my opinion it doesn't even matter, the good will they were hoping for is gone.

What's the minimum money amount you need to reach? I set it to $150. Have you tried contacting them? The way Samsung works cause a lot of frustration for me, too. I guess I will just switch the development platform.

Yes, tipztv, it is set to $150 by default, but it doesn't matter. Being that they didn't respond to my several emails, I'll assume the money lost, as it is not worth trying to recover. I'll consider it an expense for a valuable lesson learned.
