Low number of app downloads...
Just wondering what is the number of download you guys have for your apps and what do the majority think on developing on the Tizen Platform? It is hard to find the number of gear 2 users to measure the success of my app. Is there a low number of Gear 2 users or my app is simply not fantastic? So far Plantbeats (free to download) has 1.2k downloads worldwide since 25 Aug 2014. How about you guys? Thanks for sharing.

And now think how much you can earn if your app would be paid. Generally it could be said that paid apps has 10x less downloads for eg 1$ or 2$. And we have a chance to create 'iPhone like' ecosystem where everything is paid. I have almost all my apps paid. The more you guys change free to paid the more each of us will earn.

I had a great amount of downloads the first period my app was on Samsung Apps. I got around 1.7k downloads. But I submitted my app so early that it is now pushed out of the lists on Samsung apps. In each category, it only shows a small amount of apps. Does anybody know which apps that are represented in this list? Or what they are sorted by? To me it looks like they are sorted on the date they were submitted.

Samsung cannot creat "iPhone like" ecosystem if they still use Android as main mobile OS. "Why do I have to paid a watch-app if almost every apps I use in my phone are free". Release Tizen phone PLEASE

You have to pay because all watch apps are paid. If majority will be paid people will buy them...

@Fabeline The same goes for my app. I had 100 - 120 daily downloads the first few days of sale. Then it fell sharply when everyone submitted their app for Round 1. I have added new features to my app for Round 2 but the downloads are not coming in anymore. I guess they are sorted by date of submission. There is also no "link to your Download" feature provided like Google Play and Apple Store..

Is there a low number of Gear 2 users?
Yes, especially compared with the number of smartphones. That fact is indisputable.
In Q2, Samsung shipped 70 million smartphones.
Assuming the Gear 2 did better than the Gear 1, they may have shipped 700,000. (I'm basing this on the fact that the Gear 1 shipped about 500,000 in the first quarter).
So 1% of users with a brand new Samsung phone have a Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, or possibly Gear Fit.
Given those numbers, your app must be fantastic. That would be the equivalent of getting 120,000 downloads per month of an Android app on Google Play.
The store itself also creates some barriers to discovery. On my Note 3, Galaxy Gear Apps has no search and allows no deep linking. A customer's S5 Active showed a completely different looking store with search and showed only a subset of apps, like Fabeline mentioned here. I don't what the heck is going on there, but I can't buy all Samsung devices just to find out.
On the plus side, wearable devices will grow. After this competition, Samsung tizen watches will probably face less competition from developers, who will be more attracted to something like Android Wear, where they can support more devices with familiar tools, and not have to go through the extra pain of dealing with Samsung.

To cheer everybody up, our words and opinion means nothing to Samsung

Based on the findings, there is no use supporting Gear S now, given that the app is sorted by submission date. Apps that are released when Gear S is shipped will get better chance... Btw, we are the round 1 finalists. We totally deserve a category of its own in the App store. just saying. lol

@tongyi .. regarding having a category ... all hope is not lost. Samsung did say it would provide "marketing and promotion support" to the top 40 apps. The good part is that we all have a shot at the the top 40 position. Bad part is ...we all cant be top40 .
@kurak38 . I also shared the dream of making a gear app ecosystem that encouraged users to pay for their content.. We had the opportunity to do this given the ecosystem is just beginning. But then, everyone loves free content, it cannot be helped.
