Help with app updating process needed

Hi,

I don't know if I am too tired or too stupid, but I need a little help regarding updating my Gear app. It's a standalone app to which I added support for Gear S resolution, and simply wanted to update it.

I clicked on the "Update" button on the right side of the application line (in "My Applications" list). I added new screenshots, filled in "New feature" edit box etc.

And then I got to the "Binary" part...
I clicked on "Add more binary" and uploaded a new binary.
Then I had to rename the new wgt package to be able to upload it, because the system did not accept the same filename as the old binary.
Now I have two binaries, old one with version 1.0.0, and new one with version 1.0.1, and each with it's own unique package filename.

Is this OK to submit for certification, or did you guys do something differently when updating?
Will the different package name create problems?

I'm asking because when I click on the little pen icon (modify) of the old v1.0.0 binary then there is also a button "Upload", so I am a bit confused. Should I have uploaded the new version binary over the old one? (if this is possible at all...)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Bojan

    Hi,

I modified the old binary. Certification is not finished yet. But I guess it was the right thing to do.

I think you have the option to upload different binaries to support different devices (when they need different binaries).

    Cheers,
    Wolfgang

    Thanks Wolfgang!
    :-)

Can anyone that has passed the update certification confirm this?

Although, now when I think about it you are most probably right. ;-)
I really think that this could have been explained better somewhere in documentation.

    Help Needed !!
I am following the same method for uploading Binary and it Uploads the binary properly but once I click save, its stuck on Processing box and it never proceeds.. Did this happen to anyone?
PS : It shows this (undefined MB) while stuck on processing, although while uploading , the progress bar shows correctly

I had the same problem. I aborted the update process completely (deleted it in the apps overview) and started a new update process. Then it worked.

You should modify the old binary, not creating a new one

Solved the issue, I aborted it and modified the binary. Also changed the version inside tizen ide, dunno which solved the problem, but it did :)

I also had the "undefined MB" problem, both with the first version that I had uploaded in July, and with the new version that I uploaded recently. I can't be sure, but I think that problem is with the system, because after several attempts the upload would usually pass and got recognized. And yes, if I clicked "save" when the file wasn't uploaded and recognized properly it would also get stuck on "processing".

Could it be that the problem is linked to the size of wgt file somehow? (my game is about 5MB)

    @urosh:
I also in the same situation with you. I have a standalone app and want to update to add features and support Gear S.
    Did you pass certification?
Please let me ask 2 questions.
    - You select modify or add more binary?
    - Is it required to change version code? Is there any change rule?
I will change from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1. Does this work?

    Many thanks

You need to modify the binary and upload the modified one. If you add add a new binary then users already using the app will have to install it as a new app and will not be able to update it.

And for the version code if you do not increase it then users will not be able to update their existing app (if installed).
