Certification failure
The Samsung certification team have had our app for 10 days. This morning we get notification of failure and some incredibly helpful feedback - videos! What happened to logs? What is the point of videos as feedback? If they tell us something in writing, we believe them, we don't need a video. What we need is a log at the point of the problem - without details there's no way that we can hope to fix a problem which is not happening on our test devices.
And that's assuming that the problem is fixable. Two of the three problems they reported are problems with installing the follower apps from Gear Manager. We can't even test this part of the installation until the app is listed, to say nothing about trying to fix a problem that's not in our code.
So there's nothing here that we can actually address. Should we just resubmit the app as is and hope that Samsung's installation works this time? Even if we do, given the time they're taking in the certification process, it's unlikely that it will be cleared in time. Why isn't there a fast tracking for apps in this challenge with the certification team and some proper quality feedback?

I had a similar experience. After 10 days of app certification my app had been rejected.
The reason: The features in the description don't match the application features.
The fact: The video of the failure shows that the tester is using the previous version of the application.
If the certification takes so much time and the rejection comes from such reasons, there is no chance that a new version of our app will be available for the second round of the Challenge.

Certification doesn't seem to be operating well at the moment. One of my apps that failed to qualify I made several small updates to. The first time it failed certification with an error I am unable to reproduce and no error log was provided. As I re-verified it works on a fresh simulator and on my device, I just rebuilt it and resubmitted it.
It has now stood in the queue for a long time. Last night it updated with a cryptic message just saying "Device Test Delayed" with no further information. It is indeed quite frustrating as a 3+ week timeframe to do an update is a long time.
We have until October 10th to be certified for round 2 and will be submitting updated to my applications that qualified shortly. Hoping that the certification process with be smoother again by then...

Hi jimis and PHDGaming,
Thanks for posting. We have made Samsung aware of the issues you are facing and I will reach out through email to both of you momentarily.
Thanks!

As we checked, there are 7 days of public holiday for Korea in September & October.
With the additional requirement for supporting the new Gear S (And we can't test it with an actual device).
Will there be some allowance for the certification?
Or a special queue for the Round 1 winners.
E.g. giving a 5 days response time for an update certification , instead of 10 days...

Because of what I mentioned in my other thread, I am very unlikely to pass certification. The certifiers can't test with the Follower app if Gear Manager uninstalls it instantly.

Just wanted to update this thread with our current status.
First, our master app has now been stuck in certification for two full weeks. For roughly half that time, it's had a status of "Device Test Delayed". Our two follower apps failed certification on spurious grounds (see our OP); we have resubmitted one, while the other mysteriously went back into "Under Device Test" on its own, without us resubmitting it. Weird.
At this point, unless the current certification process miraculously succeeds, it seems unlikely that our app will be through in time for Round 2 of the challenge - despite having been thoroughly tested before submitting it to certification, and all of that done in early September. This means that the problems with certification will likely exclude us from even participating in Round 2.
Finally, the Premium Support Service that the challenge organizers pointed us toward does not seem to be any better than the "normal" support. We submitted three questions five days ago; one has yet to receive any response, while the other two had very unhelpful responses, which also took several days each. In other words, PSS doesn't seem to be any kind of a solution for the certification problems.
