Latest Samsung Gear device announced?

Seems like not available until October though. And the main change, beyond the connectivity built into the device, is a new resolution of: 480 x 360.

If you notice. There are 2 resolutions for gear in seller.samsungapps.com ;)

ah ok - new aspect ratio wider taller
50% taller - 320 to 480 is the one that will need designing for (unless you are list based then its happy days - just more list :)
i guess its worth considering adapting designs for a round face too - as i suspect it will be coming in the next year at the rate samsung are launching wearables.
Exciting times.
I see the samsung dev conference is announced too - thats where the winners are announced. Its In San Francisco in November.

So is the Gear S the same as Gear 2 apart from the resolution? It runs Tizen and can connect to a phone or tablet and run integrated apps? The communication via SAP will work the same?

Yep It's tizen - but I suspect it has more API's available as it can connect to wifi/3G directly - making standalone apps more interesting potentially - though you may want to stick with integrated as data entry (rather than data collection) will be tricky on a small screen - basically it doesn't have to be connected to a phone, though i suspect it need to be paired with one to add apps etc, just like the current one - just it can do more on the go - remains to be seen what it can and can't do solo and what will be in public SDK.

Also it looks like it's lost the camera too. So more like neo in that respect. My daughter loves the camera - but i never use it.
